Hey, I'm Jared!

An Unplanned Culinary Journey: Originally from the beautiful landscapes of New Zealand, I began my culinary career in some demanding restaurants. But after years of hard work, I felt the need for a break and some time away from the bustling kitchens.

During my travels, I stumbled upon the world of superyachts and realized the growing demand for chefs in this unique industry. Intrigued by the idea of combining my passion for cooking with a life at sea, I decided to dive into this new adventure.

My first experience on a superyacht convinced me that I had found my calling. The opportunity to create delicious meals surrounded by the beauty of the open waters was both inspiring and fulfilling.

Life, however, had its twists in store for me. A month-long holiday in Mexico stretched into an incredible nine-month escapade. Eventually, the global pandemic brought me back to Australia, where I embraced diverse work experiences, from mines to a river cruise boat in Noosa.

Despite the challenges, my heart always longed for the Whitsundays, the place that had become my sanctuary. With renewed determination, I returned to this breathtaking destination, eager to continue my culinary journey.

I love experimenting with flavors inspired by my travels, infusing dishes with a global touch. Using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients is at the core of my culinary philosophy, creating dishes that are simple yet extraordinary.

When I'm not in the galley, you'll likely find me exploring the enchanting beauty of bare islands, where I can truly connect with nature's wonders. Riding motorbikes along scenic routes is another passion that brings me both a sense of freedom and the thrill of adventure.

To add even more excitement to my life, I've recently been immersing myself in the captivating world of Spanish language and culture. Learning the language has opened up a whole new dimension of connections and experiences during my travels.

These outdoor escapades and language pursuits not only rejuvenate my soul but also inspire me in the kitchen, infusing my culinary creations with a zest for life and a touch of multicultural influence.

In pursuit of my culinary passion and the excitement of life at sea, I found myself exploring the world of superyachts. Recognizing the growing demand for skilled chefs in this unique industry, I underwent the essential Basic Safety Training (STCW) required to work on commercial vessels, honing my expertise in safety protocols and emergency procedures. This comprehensive training prepared me to handle various situations at sea, ensuring the well-being of both guests and crew while complementing my culinary abilities.

Later, destiny led me to the picturesque Whitsundays, a place that felt like a perfect fit for my culinary aspirations amidst the breathtaking seascape.
